Sermatec’s First Integrated “Invest–Build–Operate” Energy Storage Project Successfully Connected to the Grid
2025-12-31 00:00
On December 31, the 150MW/300MWh centralized shared electrochemical energy storage power station at Lujiayao, Hongshibao, Ningxia, officially achieved grid connection and commenced operation. This project is not only a key infrastructure initiative for building a new-type power system in Ningxia, but also Sermatec’s first flagship project to fully implement its integrated “investment–construction–operation” (IBO) capability, marking the beginning of a new era of intelligent and value-driven energy storage asset operations.
Building a Grid Stabilizer to Enable Renewable Energy Growth
The project is located in Hongshibao District, Wuzhong City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with a total capacity of 150MW/300MWh, and is connected to the grid via the Lujiayao 330kV substation. As critical infrastructure for enhancing peak-shaving reserve capacity and facilitating renewable energy integration, the project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 75,000 tonnes annually, representing a concrete contribution to China’s “dual-carbon” strategy.
Following completion, the project delivers dual strategic value to both the Ningxia power grid and the broader regional energy structure:
• On the grid side, the system can accurately respond to dispatch instructions and rapidly switch between charging and discharging modes, providing strong peak regulation and reserve support. This directly enhances grid stability and resilience against disturbances.
• On the renewable energy side, the project effectively smooths the intermittency and volatility of solar and wind generation, significantly reducing curtailment and increasing the proportion of reliable renewable power fed into the grid.
First “Invest–Build–Operate” Project, Opening a New Chapter in Operations
Grid connection is only the foundation; intelligent operation is the key to unlocking the long-term value of energy storage assets. This project will be powered by Sermatec’s advanced digital and intelligent energy management platform, transforming the system from a traditional collection of assets into a smart energy system with autonomous analytical and revenue-generating capabilities.
Sermatec’s intelligent operations platform is a comprehensive digital management system that integrates safety control and smart operations. Through visual diagnostics, safety early warning, lifetime prediction, and cloud-based intelligent O&M, the platform continuously monitors battery health, accurately identifies risks, extends system lifespan, and ensures the safe and stable operation of the energy storage plant.
On the commercial side, the platform combines proprietary AI models with big data analytics to support intelligent trading decisions in both medium- to long-term contracts and spot electricity markets. It enables electricity price forecasting, strategy optimization, and revenue performance analysis, ensuring maximum returns on energy storage assets.
From “Built Well” to “Used Well”: Safeguarding the Last Mile of Energy Storage Value
The successful grid connection marks the transition of the energy storage power station from a hardware-focused construction phase to a new stage driven by software and intelligence. Looking ahead, Sermatec will leverage full life-cycle operational services to position energy storage plants as digital bridges between a zero-carbon future and sustainable financial returns.
By achieving the leap from “building well” to “using well,” Sermatec is setting a new industry benchmark for safeguarding the long-term value of energy storage assets.
